Due to 6 suspected human rabies death, Bali is culling dogs. But because over 90% of the dogs are domestically owned, they are mainly killing healthy, happy pets. They have killed over 1,000 dogs so far using Strychnine poison, which leaves the animal conscious throughout the convulsions that end in suffocation. They suffer greatly before they die.
They are worried because they are a tourism destination and want to keep their ‘rabies-free’ image, but a dog cull does not attack the root cause of the disease and can’t protect human health. It is recognised by the World Health Organization that mass vaccination is the only method that prevents rabies, together with education.
The Bali Rabies Forum (a group of animal welfare groups) has submitted recommendations for rabies prevention to the government, but the Bali authorities need to co-operate otherwise vaccinated dogs will be killed along with non-vaccinated dogs, which does nothing to solve the problem.
Please sign the online letter to the Balinese government asking them to stop this cruel torture and attack the root of the problem in a humane way that will effectively resolve the issue.
The Washington Post recently obtained documents outlining Japanese Whaling Plans. Apparently the Chair of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) has attempted to strike a deal with Japan to resume commercial whaling, despite all credible science saying that there is no humane way to kill a whale at sea. The alleged deal would allow Japan to hunt whales in its coastal waters in exchange for ’scaling back’ their ’scientific hunts’ in the Southern Ocean. They are wanting to make this deal even though in 1986 they instated a ban on commercial whaling. They are meant to be managing whaling and conserving whales, but here they are wanting to allow Japan to resume commercial whaling.
The IWC need to stop commercial whaling, not negotiate the resumption of it. Only Japan, Norway and Iceland are wanting to continue commercial whaling, so there is no way the IWC should be caving into pressure.
[From the WSPA website] Claire Bass, WSPA’s Marine Mammal Programme Manager, said: “It is outrageous that Japan, having killed over 11,000 whales in shameless defiance of a global ban, is holding the IWC hostage and demanding concessions. It beggars belief that the IWC would consider such negotiations and, apparently with the support of the USA, offer up whales on a plate to Japan.”
International countries need to be leaning on the IWC to preserve and strengthen the whaling ban. Data from Japan and Norway show that whales can suffer for up to an hour before dying. So they themselves know that whaling is cruel and forces the animals to suffer horribly for extended periods of time.
The IWC needs to reassess their current perspective and remember why they are in place. While they are playing politics, the world’s whales are still unprotected from many threats like chemical and noise pollution, climate change, overfishing and being killed as by-catch.
We have been bombarded by Labor and the Liberals through the media (using our well earnt tax dollars by the way) giving us their explaination as to why the other party is failing and why they should get your vote.
I work as a producer in radio so I hear every time the ball is thrown back to the other side of the court. First its health, then its jobs, then its this so called ‘recession’ that we’re merely feeling the pressure of due to its presence in other countries we trade with around the globe.
Basically LNP and ALP are two peas from the same pod. They both want power just as bad as each other, and they both have good, and bad intentions for the country.
The Labor Party who are in power now, have removed several of our rights; even human rights for that matter, like the right to choose our medication. Anna Bligh has implemented Fluoridation without consent from the public via referendum, and has removed all liability for damages, even when Labor’s own stance on the matter is that ‘Water Fluoridation is unethical mass medication’.
We are currently 76 billion dollars in debt to foreign banks, which means that Queensland alone pays 10 million dollars in INTEREST per day. That works out to $900 from each Queenslander.
Under a Labor government, we also lost our land rights. They removed the ‘Fee Simple’ Crown Right to our land from under our noses. We’ve recently seen the damage that this does in America where the rights to California have been given to the Chinese. Even the Queen doesn’t seem to care. Kevin Rudd is selling us out to China and we are going to become one big toxic waste dump as mining increases here.
The Liberals seem like the logical sense, being the opposite of Labor.. but this truly isn’t the case. Sure they plan to fix the errors of Labor such as the bad debt and loss of jobs, but they plan to create jobs in things like Uranium Mines!
Lawrence Springborg has announced that he plans on mining more Uranium from Australian soils. BHP Billiton already has opened Pandora’s box by opening the largest open-cut Uranium mine on the planet, and only within a stones throw from Adelaide!

It talks about how we mine Uranium here and export it, then the spent Uranium is used to make Armour piercing rounds used by the military and is currently being used mostly in the Middle East. So in conclusion, I recommend to vote the Independents in as a mass protest against the wrong doings that our previous government have committed. Why not give them a go? They want to build sustainable energy sources that will create many more specialist and labour type jobs all over the country and keep us going in a much greener way.

The face we have a hard time trusting, Anna Bligh, has called an election six months before Queenslanders were due to go to the polls. Speculation has arisen as to why this has happened, as there could be a number of reasons. Her marketers have launched a website called anna4qld.com.au is can be seen here.
Anna would be well and truly aware by now of the People’s Class Action that is underway. Unlike petitions, which politicians habitually ignore, these letters invoked the mandatory process of Judicial Review of a decision made by ANY government paid decision maker. This includes Ministers, in their capacity as Ministers effectively CEO¹s of a government department. That law allows a court to reverse a decision which is not sound and sensible and defines the refusal or failure to supply a decision, AS a reviewable decision a distinction which will come back to bite these two Ministers.
Anna is personally liable for any damages or harm that comes of Fluoridation of the water supply after she signed a guarantee in the Queen Street Mall that was witnessed by members of QAWF (Queenslanders Against Water Fluoridation). A man was left to bleed in a heap on the road after a car accelerated towards him from across an intersection and cleaned him up in Southport on the Gold Coast yesterday.
My girlfriend Shelley and I were heading into town to pick up our dinner from a local restaurant called The Tandoori Place, and we noticed that some of the Marie’s Pizza shop delivery drivers were wandering around looking up the street where others were also looking-on.
A man came into the restaurant as I was picking up our order and I asked him ‘was there an altercation up the street’? He told me ‘yeah some dude just got hit by a car and I saw the whole thing’ he said as he looked down the street ‘I just saw this car accelerate from across the intersection and then I saw his shoes flying through the air’.
My girlfriend Shelley walked into the restaurant then and overheard what the man was saying. I asked him if anyone was helping him and he said ‘oh there are a few people standing around’. Knowing the mentality of most folk nowadays, I figured that they were probably just sticky -beaking so I told Shelley who has first aid qualifications to run down and see if he was ok while I paid for the food. I put it in the car and went down to see what had happened, and found Shelley with blood all over her helping him with his broken arm (in about 2 places I assume) to a place of comfort as it was twisted under him the wrong way. She also put a towel under his head to keep it still as he was rolling it around and could have had some spinal injuries.
The man was crying and Shelley was comforting him telling him she had been hit by a car before also. Amazing how the universe works huh? She told him he was a handsome man and I saw a smile on his very battered and tooth-less face. This made me truly proud to have such a huge hearted angelic girlfriend like Shelley.
Some standers-by told us that it was his birthday and he had been drinking at the pub. The car was described to be a white Holden Commodore VN possibly with some damage to the front left bumper and bonnet. We found some pieces of the body kit that had broken off that confirmed the car was a Holden.
I picked this up and took it to the police and they told me to put it back where I found it for the investigative team to look at it, but when we left noone was there or even had taped off the area so I went and informed the police that there was a Model and part number on it so they took it with them.
