   Dear Bligh Government,
   I refer to my many emails to you and I realise you have received a mountain of them from many others.

   The extensive Evidence of Harm from around the world is staggering; the conflicts of interests et al are staggering; you have been given extensive evidence which you are well aware of but have continued to apparently ignore, I would think that you have to act sanely and responsibly and cease endangerment to the health of the entire population by immediately, permanently and irrevocably removing the S6 silicofluoride poisons from our water supplies; no one, I believe is above justice.

   Right is right and wrong is wrong; and it is wrong to continue poisoning the population with known S6 poisons with such breathtaking arrogance and lack of any duty of care or responsibility or accountability; I have a strong feeling that is all going to change; criminal acts are punishable by law are they not? If I was to slow poison my husband or someone else I would be jailed! I ask again Ms Bligh, please stand down from your S6 silicofluoride poison “water fluoridation” Campaign and turn off your poison taps; it will look better for you if you do so now, before all the litigation explodes in your faces and before many more people’s health is harmed.

   Large-scale lawsuit seeks to ban chemical poisoning of water supply

   A group of private citizens in San Diego County is planning to file a large-scale lawsuit in federal court against public water districts and challenge the constitutionality of using industrial-grade hydrofluosilicic acid to fluoridate drinking water.Jeff Green, national director of Citizens for Safe Drinking Water in San Diego, told WND,

   “We are raising funds for a lawsuit that has been prepared for plaintiffs who are asserting their constitutional rights under the Ninth and 14th Amendments to be free of what they term ‘bodily intrusions’ by a water wholesaler adding an unapproved drug into their water.

   “Specific details about the lawsuit such as names of plaintiffs will not be revealed until the suit has officially been filed. However, Green said the filing parties are private citizens in Southern California who are seeking an injunction against public water districts to stop use of unapproved drugs in the area drinking supply.

   “They are individuals who will be claiming that they shouldn’t be taking an unapproved drug because they already have adverse effects happening,” he said. “They already have things like kidney disease, thyroid disease and other health issues that make it important for them to have the right to control what they are exposed to.

   “As WND previously reported, there is growing and fierce opposition to plans to fluoridate public drinking water after shocking new studies that seriously question a practice routine among U.S. municipalities for nearly the last 50 years. Green said many citizens are usually unaware of how dangerous the chemical can actually be.

   “Most people think that fluoride is what you have in your toothpaste or water, but they are unaware of the fact that Prozac and Zoloft are fluoride products,” Green said. “Almost all psychotropic drugs are fluoride products.

   “Baycol, the drug that was pulled off the market because of muscle degeneration, is a fluoride product,” he continued. “Cipro, the product they were going to use for the Anthrax vaccine, was a fluoride product. In Fen-Phen, the diet drug that got pulled of the market, the fluoride in it is what created the thickening of the heart valve. Rohypnol, the date-rape drug, is a fluoride product.

   If someone goes into surgery, and they use anesthesia gas, they would be using fluorothane or halothane or one of these other fluoride products.”(Story continues below)Contrary to popular belief, Green said medical and scientific research indicates water fluoridation does not prevent tooth decay and that U.S. water districts have asked chemical suppliers to make statements that fluoride is effective at doing so.”There’s not one chemical supplier in the entire United States that will make that statement,” he said.He hopes the lawsuit will send a message to chemical suppliers and water districts across the nation that citizens will not tolerate general poisoning of their water supply with fluoride or a variety of other contaminants.

   “It’s not OK for them to come out and say it’s the greatest thing in the world, and then we find hazardous waste that has arsenic, lead, cadmium and mercury in it,” Green said. “Where did they get the ability to add these toxins? There wasn’t anything people voted for, anywhere, that said it was a reasonable implementation of public policy of fluoridation to add arsenic. The levels that are allowable would allow as much as one in every 3,000 people to have lung or bladder cancer over a lifetime of use.

   “Green said donations to support the lawsuit are being made to Keepers of the Well, an organization committed to promoting safe drinking water. The plaintiffs expect to file soon and assert their rights to protect themselves from poisoning.”In essence, we’re saying that these water districts may have made a determination that they want to fluoridate; that’s public policy, but when it comes down to implementing it and actually pushing a substance that has never been approved by the FDA, they are actually treating people and intending to prevent disease with an unapproved drug.”

   I am part of a numerous groups in Queensland Australia trying to stop the Government from poisoning our water supplies with S6 silicofluoride poisons. This is some of my recent correspondence. The media refuse to publish any of it, I’ve sent them small amounts, large and in between, they wont publish it. They appear to have a total blackout. Thanks for your fantastic article so nice to see the true facts of the evidence of harm of silicofluoride S6 poisons being told.    Also in this regard:- By the way on the right of the article you will see reference to Osteoporosis drugs, refer to the drug Fosamax - both my parents were prescribed fosamax over many years - I won’t even go into what happened with my father here, but they gave it to my mother because she had arthritis and osteoporosis and said they were so concerned with the aged suffering broken hips and they want to prevent that; (well personal experience shows different).

   My mother had been on fosamax a fluorinated drug as you know (supposedly to prevent the elderley breaking hips in falls) for many years she took it and died an agonising death over 8 days after falling and suffering horrific broken hip in 2005. She also suffered heartlessly in 2005 from a hospital system that was negligent, they left her lying in emergency cubicle all afternoon (Monday) until night - Caboolture Hospital - then decided they didn’t have an orthopaedic specialist, (they gave her no blankets etc. to treat her for shock and was not comforted, thank God I was there) and then that night they decided to ship her off to Redcliffe Hospital - (Monday night) - they kept mucking about trying to decide if and when to operate on her broken hip - she was booked in on the Tuesday for surgery and then they cancelled it because an emergency came in and I said “excuse me but my mother is an emergency too, she’s in agony with a broken hip, you have to fix her.”

   They were not giving her appropriate pain relief at all even after she was warded and she was laying in agony, I had to ask for this to be addressed. I was desperate as they weren’t operating to fix her, and then decided on Thursday night to do the operation, from Monday >>>> Thursday too late - I also told them to change her catheter as it was only a temp which had been put in earlier at Caboolture Hospital, they didn’t do this - so she died over 8 days in agony and because they didn’t change her catheter and give her appropriate antibiotic treatment in time; which I in fact even reminded them to do earlier. I noticed her hands swelling up and I had to go and ask for a wardsman to cut off her wedding ring as it was cutting in to her she was puffing up like a balloon- none of them had a clue! She died of urosepsis in my arms after 8 agonising days and nights.
   So I say that fluorinated osteoporosis drugs certainly are a fraud and do not do what the doctors et al tell you they will, which is prevent aged people from suffering broken hips. Not true. My mother’s painful death over 8 days from a broken hip is evidence of that.

   Most of mainstream media will not publish any of the material sent to them speaking against “fluoridation” (SilicofluorideS6 poisons) Please Queenslanders and Australians (and everyone in the world) this silicofluoride poisoning of our water supplies has to be stopped, the health of the population is at stake but also, the silicofluorides makes for dumbing down of the population as per Russell Blaylock’s (neurosurgeon’s) work (& other experts also) and also as per Professor Roger Masters work, the uptake of lead, aluminium et al and fluoride (silicofluorides)= learning disorders, behavioural problems, criminal & violent behaviour et al. this is disastrous for us all as humans but to all life, and is already being experienced in many Cities, States and Countries.

   Please empower us all as a great State and Country to kill fluoridation now; permanently and irrevocably so that this horrendous endangerment to our complete health never continues and never happens again. The evidence of harm from experts around the world is staggering on many levels; and our health and lives are in danger, each and every one of us, please take whatever action you can immediately to bring pressure to bear on Governments to end “water fluoridation” ie silicofluoride S6 poisoning of our water supplies. The evidence of harm I have shown below is only the tip of the iceberg. Please read it and take action to save us all from this S6 poison in every drop of water we have and in every food and beverage and from many other sources. We are all in absolute health danger. We deserve pure water, not poisoned water.

   The people are not being given the true facts of the silicofluoride S6 poisons being placed in the water and such “fluoridation” is being claimed as being “natural” by the Bligh Government and other Australian Governments. The Queensland Health Minister, Stephen Robertson claiming that “Queenslanders can be very secure in the knowledge that fluoride is not only safe, but a key ingredient to good oral health” Also he claims “There have been numerous studies and subsequent reviews which have confirmed the safety and effectiveness of water fluoridation in reducing dental decay for the whole population” also he claims “any suggestion fluoridation posed a health risk was unfounded”.

   His claims are teetering between criminally negligent and perjury in my opinion; as the evidence of harm from experts around the world is simply staggering; as are the conflicts of interest, suppression of evidence of harm, corruption, collusion, bullying & fraud that is encompassed in the “water fluoridation “scheme”".

   All Queenslanders and Australians should be deeply concerned. Most journalists have been loathe to publish anything adverse on “fluoridation”,but I point out here that their health is at stake too; I can’t understand it, because they’ll be consuming the S6 poisoned water and absorbing it through the pores of their skin with every shower and handwash, all foods and drinks will be contaminated with it also and many other sources of chemical “fluoride” such as in medications, anaesthetics, environmental sources from industry et al. Some of the population are still under the “illusion” (from the lies told to them by the fluoride proponents,) that it is “natural fluoride” put in the water) I can’t stress enough, it is an S6 poison.(silicofluorides) Remember the truth of the matter is that this affects everyone, men, women, children, babies and all life, “I repeat; “water fluoridation” is an S6 poison toxic chemical waste product. To place this in our water supplies against all the Evidence of Harm in my opinion is criminal and absolutely dangerous to the long term health of the population. Below is only a small sample of the evidence of harm, please read it.

Extract: Massive Corruption, Collusion and Conflict of Interest The same individuals promoting the addition of fluorides to the water supplies also serve on the FDA Dental Products Advisory Board. Fluoridation equipment makers, fluoride suppliers, and federal and state health department staff serve on the American Water Works Association’s “Fluoride Standards Board.” The American Dental Association, who receives public funds, also receives hundreds of thousands of dollars from Proctor and Gamble, Lever Brothers, Colgate, Warner Lambert, Johnson & Johnson, and others in the fluoride business. After the American Dental Association endorsed “Crest” toothpaste in October 1960, it became known that the officials responsible for the endorsement of Crest toothpaste had personally profited financially from the immediate rise of $8 per share in Proctor and Gamble Stocks.

   In 1980, a toxicologist Brian Dementi at the Virginia Department of Health, wrote a comprehensive report on “Fluoride and Drinking Water” that suggested possible health risks from fluoridation. The 36-page study has been /purged/ from the department’s library even though it is the only one the department has prepared on the subject. Spokemen apparently say the report was “thrown away because it was old”, while maintaining that “the department will be preparing another report on the subject soon.”

   Another extract: The 1985 WHO report was not the only thing under fire. Criticism of reports on fluorides authored by the EPA were also under scrutiny. According to Robert J. Carton, an environmental scientist at the EPA, the scientific assessment of fluorides health risks written by the agency in 1985 “omits 90% of the literature on mutagenicity, most of which suggests fluoride is a mutagen.”

   Extract:- In 1990, Dr. William Marcus, senior toxicologist in the Office of Drinking Water at EPA, was fired for publicly questioning the honesty of a long-awaited government animal study designed to determine if fluoride causes cancer. Upon examining the raw data of the experiment, Dr. Marcus found clear evidence that fluoride causes cancer, and suggested that a review panel set up by the government to review the data had deliberately downgraded the results. He was vindicated in December of 1992 when Administrative Law Judge David A. Clark, Jr. ordered EPA to give him back his job, with back pay, legal expenses and $50,000 in damages. EPA appealed, but the appeal was turned down in 1994 by Secretary of Labor, Robert B. Reich who accused EPA of firing Dr. Marcus in retaliation for speaking his mind in public. Reich found among other things that EPA had shredded important evidence that would have supported Dr. Marcus in court.    The decline in caries (cavities) in communities that are fluoridated has been significant — but so is the decline in communities that are not fluoridated. For example, B.C. drinking water is 95 per cent nonfluoridated, whereas drinking water in Alberta is 75 per cent fluoridated; yet the two provinces have similar rates of caries.
   Fluoridation comes with significant risks. Animal studies have shown the chemical is a potential immunotoxin, embryotoxin and neurotoxin. Because fluoridation is unlikely to be the cause of caries decline in North America and because the potential for adverse effects is real, we believe fluoridation of drinking water is scientifically untenable.

   The institute’s director, Professor Neil Hunter, says the bacteria, which have the potential to cause a wide range of infections such as sinusitis, pneumonia, meningitis and wound infections, are becoming more prevalent due to public health measures, including water fluoridation.

   “Fluoridated teeth have hard shells but they decay and they hollow,” he says. “Fluoride makes the outside of the tooth very hard but they are like a tree - the bark on the outside can appear very hard but the inside can be rotten and you won’t discover this until the tree falls over.

   A world-famous British scientist failed to disclose that he held a paid consultancy with a chemical company for more than 20 years while investigating cancer risks in the industry, the Guardian can reveal.
   Sir Richard Doll, the celebrated epidemiologist who established that smoking causes lung cancer, was receiving a consultancy fee of $1,500 a day in the mid-1980s from Monsanto, then a major chemical company and now better known for its GM crops business.

   While he was being paid by Monsanto, Sir Richard wrote to a royal Australian commission investigating the potential cancer-causing properties of Agent Orange, made by Monsanto and used by the US in the Vietnam war. Sir Richard said there was no evidence that the chemical caused cancer.

   Documents seen by the Guardian reveal that Sir Richard was also paid a £15,000 fee by the Chemical Manufacturers Association and two other major companies, Dow Chemicals and ICI, for a review that largely cleared vinyl chloride, used in plastics, of any link with cancers apart from liver cancer - a conclusion with which the World Health Organisation disagrees. Sir Richard’s review was used by the manufacturers’ trade association to defend the chemical for more than a decade.

   The revelations will dismay scientists and other admirers of Sir Richard’s pioneering work and fuel a rift between the majority who support his view that the evidence shows cancer is a product of modern lifestyles and those environmentalists who argue that chemicals and pollution must be to blame for soaring cancer rates.

   Yesterday Sir Richard Peto, the Oxford-based epidemiologist who worked closely with him, said the allegations came from those who wanted to damage Sir Richard’s reputation for their own reasons. Sir Richard had always been open about his links with industry and gave all his fees to Green College, Oxford, the postgraduate institution he founded, he said.

   Professor John Toy, medical director of Cancer Research UK, which funded much of Sir Richard’s work, said times had changed and the accusations must be put into context. “Richard Doll’s lifelong service to public health has saved millions of lives. His pioneering work demonstrated the link between smoking and lung cancer and paved the way towards current efforts to reduce tobacco’s death toll,” he said. “In the days he was publishing it was not automatic for potential conflicts of interest to be declared in scientific papers.”

   But a Swedish professor who believes that some of Sir Richard’s work has led to the underestimation of the role of chemicals in causing cancers said that transparency was all-important. “It’s OK for any scientist to be a consultant to anybody, but then this should be reported in the papers that you publish,” said Lennart Hardell of University Hospital, Orebro.

   Sir Richard died last year. Among his papers in the Wellcome Foundation library archive is a contract he signed with Monsanto. Dated April 29 1986, it extends for a year the consulting agreement that began on May 10 1979 and offers improved terms. “During the one-year period of this extension your consulting fee shall be $1,500 per day,” it says.

   Monsanto said yesterday it did not know how much work Sir Richard did for the company, but said he was an expert witness for Solutia, a chemical business spun off from Monsanto, as recently as 2000.

   Hirzy said that the EPA, in fact, got away with imposing a standard that effectually ruins the teeth of very many who drink fluoridated water because, though “widely known to cause severe fluorosis at four milligrams per liter, that is the standard in effect to this day.” Of even more ominous portent, Hirzy said, is that, far from being merely cosmetic in effect, “what’s going on in the teeth is a window to what’s going on in the bones. What fluoride does in the hydroxy-epitite structure in teeth it does to the same structure in bone. It is well known now that fluoride produces faulty bone, more brittle, basically mimicking in the bone what is clearly visible in the teeth.” A kind of artificial osteoporosis.

   “It’s an outrageous situation,” the EPA scientist claims, when you have fluoridated household drinking water in such concentration that the agency must inform parents that they “should not be allowing their children to drink four milligrams per liter of fluoride, and if they have that in their water supply they should go to an alternative source.” Does it not seem a little strange that the government authorizes the addition of a chemical to ostensibly help children’s teeth and then tells parents not to allow their children to drink it? We are most certainly not in Kansas anymore, Toto!

   So toxic is the fluoride added to drinking water that, according to Hirzy, if one were to take a dose of it about half the size of that “500 mg vitamin C tablet you take in the morning, you’d be dead long before the sun went down. When you’re talking about something with that kind of potent toxicity,” he says, “it’s unrealistic to think that the only adverse effect it has is death. It must be doing something intracellularly to cause these effects.”

   As evidence that the government has known for over sixty years that fluoride is a health hazard, Hirzy quoted from an article, “clear back in 1934 in which the American Dental Association plainly treats the subject very matter-of-factly. It calls fluoride a general protoplasmic poison.”

   Robert Carton, Ph.D., twenty years with EPA and now employed as a scientist with the Army, claims that, on “July 7, 1997 the EPA scientists, engineers and attorneys who assess the scientific data for the Safe Drinking Water Act standards and other EPA regulations have gone on record against the practice of adding fluoride to public drinking water.

   Question: if the Environmental Protection Agency possesses the clout to virtually confiscate a man’s land because some of it is a little soggy–calling it wetlands–why do they not exercise that power to enforce de-fluoridation of drinking water, which they have declared unsafe? Does money play any role in this?

   Dr. Carton informed this office that fluoride itself is not the only major hazard stemming from its introduction into city water supplies. “A very real danger lies in the fact that fluosilicic acid leaches lead from plumbing. “There are a couple of places in the country,” Dr. Carton said, “Seattle being one and Thermont, Maryland…that when they stopped adding fluoride to their water the lead levels dropped in half.”

   The problem with the data used to determine the safety of fluoride, Carton said, is that it is all based on the original figures presented by the chief scientist in charge of the Manhattan Project’s fluoride safety, Dr. Harold Hodge. He falsified or “cooked the numbers,” as Carton put it, to make his data fit what the government wanted.

   In addition to the dental and skeletal damage caused by fluoride, Dr. Carton also cites research that claims that a specific antibody (immunoglobulin - IgM) that is missing from patients with certain types of brain tumors is also missing from the blood of those tested with elevated blood fluoride levels. This is leading many to theorize that such brain tumors are much more likely among individuals consuming fluoride compounds in their diet. Since most juice concentrates and food stuffs are processed with fluoridated water, such blood elevations are becoming much more common.

   Extract: In Colorado, the rate of suicide among teenagers, children and young adults has been consistently above the national average since 1980. Suicide is, sadly, the second-leading cause of death in children between the ages of 10 through 19 in Colorado. In Kentucky, suicide is also the second leading cause of death in children, teens and young adults. In Mississippi, the number of teen and young-adult suicides has increased 126% since 1969, with more than 90% of the victims being males. In Alaska, the suicide rate among teenagers is nearly twice that of the national average - twice. (21, 22, 23, 24)

   Other strange surges in human suffering have been noted, as well. In Colorado, from 1990 through 1999, the percentage of children with orthopedic impairments rose 484%. In Alaska, during 1990-98, the incidence of diabetes increased by 152%, (much greater than the national rate), and now Alaska is among the top three states with the highest incidence of squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus. (25, 26) In the midst of all this growing and tragic suffering, in the year 2000 the Surgeon General issued a “first ever” call to action in response to what was noted as a “silent epidemic” of dental problems in the United States. Something strange is happening in the mouths of Americans. (27)

   According to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, an estimated 80% of American adults currently have some form of periodontal (gum) disease. In parts of Kentucky, nearly half of the toddlers have cavities in their teeth, which is approximately twice the national average. In addition to Kentucky, the top five states cited in a 1997 table used in the Surgeon General’s report on toothlessness included West Virginia, Louisiana, Arkansas and Maine. (28, 29, 30) Perhaps it is at this point that one might begin to reasonably suspect that whatever lies at the cause of this epidemic of epidemics - whatever is disabling Americans in body, mind and spirit - just might be something we are putting into our mouths or otherwise absorbing into our bodies. This is not an unreasonable suspicion.

   Dr. Phyllis Mullenix, a researcher who has investigated the neurotoxicity of fluoride since 1987, was contacted by BSE, a contractor for the U.S. Army Medical Command, (MEDCOM). Headquartered at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, it has some 25,000 soldiers and 28,000 civilian employees in its command. MEDCOM commands four Army installations including the world famous Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in Washington, D.C.

   MEDCOM was concerned about fluoridating the water supply of Fort Detrick, Maryland and Dr. Mullenix’s expert opinion was requested.

   Dear Drs. Romoser-Breno and Beaver:

   The April 15 request for comments regarding water fluoridation is vague in that no assurances are offered as to how my written opinion will be used. Thus, a copy of this letter will be sent to Mr. Gilbert Gonzales at Fort Detrick. Without the benefit of having read the “Environmental Assessment” report to which you referred to in your letter, I run the risk of being redundant with regard to the material already prepared. With these caveats, I offer the following comments about the advantages and disadvantages of water fluoridation.

   To start, I must correct a statement you made in your letter regarding my being an “expert on drinking water fluoridation issues.” Prior to 1982, my knowledge of fluoride was limited to television commercials saying It was good for my teeth. Rather, my expertise was detection of neurotoxicity, which brought me to the Department of Psychiatry at Boston’s Children’s Hospital and Neuropathology at the Harvard Medical School. It was there that I met Dr. Jack Hein, Director of the Forsyth Dental Center and the scientist responsible for putting mono fluorophosphate (MFP) into toothpaste. Dr. Hein was a student of Dr. Harold Hodge, the chief pharmacologist on the Manhattan Project who conducted the world renowned studies on fluoride (1) and started water fluoridation. Dr. Hein invited me to Forsyth to study the neurotoxic potential of materials that dentists use, starting with fluoride, and we set up the first toxicology department in any dental research institution in the world. I was made Head of the department, and Dr. Hodge moved to Boston and became a member of my department where lie stayed until his death in 1990. Another Manhattan Project scientist and fluoride researcher, Dr. Ben Amdur, also joined the department.

   My investigations of the neurotoxicity of fluoride started in 1987. Using a new computer pattern recognition system capable of a sensitivity and objectivity other behavioral measures did not possess, we studied an animal model first developed for the study of dental fluorosis. Frankly, we expected to find nothing. The results from the first experiment we thought must be wrong, so we kept repeating the study with more animals, different doses, sexes, ages and methods of administration. Like quicksand, every effort we made sank us further into the realization that brain function was impacted by fluoride. Scientific integrity dictated that we publish our results (2,3), but employed at a dental research institution made us weak in the knees to do so.

   In our 1995 paper (2), we reported that brain function was vulnerable to fluoride, that the effects on behavior depended on the age at exposure and that fluoride accumulated in brain tissues. Rats exposed as adults displayed behavior-specific changes typical of cognitive deficits, whereas rats exposed prenatally had dispersed behaviors typical of

   hyperactivity. Brain histology was not examined, but the behavioral changes were consistent with those seen when hippocampal development is interrupted and memory problems emerge. Overall, we concluded that the rat study flagged potential for motor dysfunction, IQ deficits and/or learning disabilities in humans.

   Criticisms of our study by dentists say that our results in rats are not relevant to humans because the doses we used were too high (75-125 pprn NaF in drinking water). These criticisms are without merit because our doses in rats produce a level of fluoride in the plasma equivalent to that found in humans drinking 5- 10 ppm fluoride in water, or humans receiving some treatments for osteoporosis. This plasma level is exceeded ten times over one hour after children receive topical applications of some dental fluoride gels. Thus, humans are being exposed to levels of fluoride that we know alters behavior in rats. Perhaps dentists see no problem with this fact, but scientists involved with toxicity risk assessment will view it differently. The fluoride levels in the drinking water of our rats were not high, they were taken from the well known animal model developed for the study of dental fluorosis, a model used repeatedly by dental researchers for several years.

   Other criticisms of equal absurdity have been expressed by dentists about our study. However, they are not important to dwell upon now because that first study was but one piece of an emerging picture. Soon after our study was published, we learned of two epidemiology studies from China showing IQ deficits in children over-exposed to fluoride via drinking water or soot from burning coal (4,5). Next, we found a literature review that assembled case reports spanning 60 years on neurological effects in humans exposed to fluoride (6). A common theme in these reports was that fluoride exposure impaired memory and concentration and that it caused lethargy, headache, depression and confusion. The depression is not something to ignore because suicide occurs more frequently than expected in populations of fluoride workers (7).

   More recently, another laboratory investigation found that chronic exposure to fluoride (I ppm) in drinking water of rats compromised neuronal and cerebrovasculature integrity (blood brain barrier) and increased aluminum concentrations in brain tissues (8). Another study found that fluoride in drinking water of rats decreased membrane lipids important to proper brain function (9). Moreover, the latest studies have shown that fluoride accumulates in human and animal pineal glands where it impairs melatonin production (10, 11), a finding critical when it is considered that melatonin is an agent that protects the central nervous system from radiation by scavenging free radicals (12). Finally, there is a recent study published which reports that silicofluorides in fluoridated drinking water increase levels of lead in children’s blood, a risk factor that predicts higher crime rates, attention deficit disorder and learning disabilities ( 13).

   Unfortunately, the link between fluoride and the brain does not end with the above mentioned studies. In 1993 while studying the neurotoxicity associated with the treatments of childhood leukemia, we demonstrated that the fluorinated steroid dexamethasone disrupted behavior in rats to a greater degree than did its non fluorinated counterpart prednisolone (14,15). This finding prompted a clinical study of children treated for leukemia, where it was found that the fluorinated steroid was more detrimental to IQ than the nonfluorinated steroid, in particular reading comprehension, arithmetic calculation and short-term working memory deficits were greater (16). In short, this finding has fueled a growing concern about the contribution of fluorinated pharmaceuticals to the total body burden of fluoride.

   As you decide whether or not to fluoridate the water supplies of Fort Detrick, it is imperative that you consider the impact on total body burden of fluoride. The soldier today is a different individual, facing a very different situation than that encountered fifty years ago when fluoridation was promoted as a “safe and effective” means to protect against tooth decay. The difference stems from the fact that 1) fluoride exposures today are out of control, well beyond the dose touted as optimum for caries prevention; and 2) people today, especially soldiers, are exposed to substances and conditions that will interact with fluoride exposure and magnify harmful effects (i.e., exposure to beryllium, lead, strontium, aluminum, cholinesterase-inhibiting pesticides, uranium hexafluoride, stress, nutritional deficiencies, increased water consumption due to extreme exercises, fluorinated pharmaceuticals, and nerve gases including sarin).

   In summary, my opinion is that there are no advantages to water fluoridation. The risks today far exceed the hoped for benefit. Dr. Hodge during the Manhattan Project requested funds from Col. Stafford L. Warren to do animal experimentation to determine central nervous system effects of fluoride (17). He did so because he had clinical evidence that the fluoride component of uranium hexafluoride caused “mental confusion, drowsiness and lassitude among the workmen. Yet, he never got to do those studies, and because this information was classified, he never discussed his findings with me. Perhaps, however, this explains why he was so intensely interested in my fluoride studies up to the time of his death.

   Therefore, in good conscience I can only discourage the notion of fluoridating the water supply of Fort Detrick. The evidence against the safety of this public health policy will keep mounting and never disappear again. My ignorance of fluoride in the beginning was a matter of chance. If you ignore this evidence today, it will be a matter of choice. Good luck with doing the right thing.

   Seldom has an issue come before the public that affects our personal health (and our personal

   On Nov. 24, 1992, Robert Carton, Ph.D., a former EPA scientist made this statement: “FLUORIDATION
   IS THE GREATEST CASE OF SCIENTIFIC FRAUD OF THIS CENTURY, IF NOT OF ALL TIME.”
   Professor Albert Schatz, Ph.D., Microbiology, discoverer of the antibiotic streptomycin, was of the
   same opinion. His statement was: “fluoridation … it is the greatest fraud that has ever been
   perpetrated and it has been perpetrated on more people than any other fraud has.”

   David R. Hill, P.Eng., Professor Emeritus, The University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in Aug. 1997,
   stated: “My own conclusion is that there are, at best, real unresolved and serious questions about the
   safety and benefits of water fluoridation and related uses of fluoride. The most recent evidence suggests it is not particularly beneficial, and certainly not safe. The most charitable interpretation that one can put on the situation is that old habits die hard, and the medical/dental establishment is slow to adapt to the realities of modern research, and is fearful of losing both face and law suits if they admit they made a mistake.”

   For too many decades we heard from scientists who worked for the cigarette companies that
   cigarettes were not addictive, even in the face of mounting evidence of harm. No one died from smoking one cigarette, one pack, or one carton. But after twenty years, cancers started to “mysteriously” appear. We were told these deaths were unrelated to smoking. Now, the American Cancer Society states that, “During 1995, approximately 2.1 million people in developed countries died as a result of smoking.” Tobacco use is responsible for nearly one in five deaths in the U.S. Scientists were wrong about tobacco; tobacco was not safe and neither is fluoride.

   The powerful financial interests behind fluoridation have managed to keep the public from knowing the truth by controlling the media. Here is the opportunity for those who have the courage to speak out and let the truth be known to do a real service for the public, who in the majority of cases have not even been given a choice in the matter.

   Those opposed to fluoridation have but one thing to gain — water that is free of medication, a medication that has been proven time and again not to work for the purpose intended, and is harmful to many. It is time to bring the evidence out in a free and open discussion, where reason and facts are the guidelines, rather than emotion and politics. To ignore the issue is to let others make the decision for us. It has been said that: “All bad men need is for good men to do nothing.” Please help spread the true facts on this issue.

   (NaturalNews) Grand Rapids, Mich. has become the most recent city to question the practice of fluoridating public water, as part of a growing tendency for local governments to question the use of many chemicals that formerly been taken for granted.

   “I think this pattern has been growing because there is better environmental health research that draws connections between low levels of chemical exposure and changes in our bodies,” said Dr. Howard Hu of the University of Michigan. “As the research has become more sophisticated, it shows that environmental toxicants can do other things beyond just kill you: they can stunt your growth, change behavior and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.”

   Grand Rapids was the first city in the world to fluoride its public water supply, based on assurances from the government that the chemical reduces the risk of tooth decay while posing no serious risks. But based on a number of studies linking fluoride to problems with the thyroid, kidneys, central nervous system and skeletal system - including cancers - the city’s director of environmental sustainability, Corky Overmyer, has ordered a new review of the scientific evidence concerning the risks and benefits of the chemical.

   “This has been on my radar screen for a while,” Overmyer said.

   Overmyer says that while he has not drawn any conclusions about the safety fluoride, the scientific evidence gave him reason enough for concern. Having already gotten chlorine removed from the city’s water supply several years ago, Overmyer did not expect the vicious backlash that developed to his questioning of fluoride. From large medical associations to the mayor and even his own dentist, Overmyer’s decision has drawn fierce criticism.

   “I had no idea “fluoride” was that sensitive an issue,” Overymyer said.

   Fluoridation opponents have cheered the news, however, confident that the scientific evidence will speak for itself.

   “If Grand Rapids falls, that could be the beginning of the end of fluoride,” said Paul Connett, director of the Fluoride Action Network.

   Glen S. R. Walker, F.I.M.F., E.M.E.C.S., M.A.E.S., is Chairman of the Freedom From Fluoridation Federation of Australia, and of the Anti-Fluoridation Association of Victoria.

   His experience in technical and scientific organisations throughout the world has been extensive. In 1968 he was the first Australian to be made a Fellow of the Institute of Metal Finishing, London, an international society entry into which is controlled by technical and scientific examination, and his Fellowship was awarded for his work in that field which has received international recognition.

   He is also an Emeritus Member of the Electrochemical Society, U.S.A. having been a member for over forty years. He has represented Australia many times at international scientific conferences. He was also a partner in a chemical company that manufactured special chemicals war-time use. He has written many papers for local and overseas journals.

   After the war he was the proprietor of a chemical laboratory which held a highest qualification in Australia - registration by the N.A.T.A. (National Association of Testing Authorities). The author and the staff of this laboratory pioneered the determination trace impurities in electrolytes, using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer which was invented by the C.S.I.R.O. This is now universally used throughout the world.

   Fluoride can now be suspected in a host of illnesses including GERD, gum disease, bone problems, diabetes, thyroid malfunction and mental impairment. As stated earlier, a significant number of the health and mental problems in the US are more pronounced in boys. Because tryptophan, serotonin and the melatonin formed in the pineal gland are specifically associated with behavior (both aggressive and nonaggressive), with mood, sleep, appetite control, mucosal function of the gastrointestinal tract, regulation of cells and a host of other functions of the body, it appears that something is disturbing the proper functioning of the messengers, thus resulting in outward signs of disease and behavioral problems.    Additionally, fluoride has now been found to accumulate in extremely high concentrations within the pineal gland where melatonin is formed. This observation was made during postmortem examinations by researcher Jennifer Luke, DDS, PhD. A known neurotoxin, fluoride has also been shown to cause nerve cell degeneration, resulting in an outright disruption of motor coordination. It has also been shown to inhibit and interfere with the production of insulin, interfere with thyroid function and to directly affect thought process. (96, 97, 98, 99, 100)

   “I doubt that anyone who has never seen teeth mottled from excess fluoride can imagine how unattractive they cause a child to be. Such a mouth is similar to that of a person who has been chewing tobacco. Because I have seen these teeth, I can sympathize with the heartbroken mother who wrote me about her boy. She is blaming herself because she has ruined her son’s appearance by giving him, while a baby, drops containing fluoride. His permanent teeth, now erupting, are each horribly stained an ugly brown. Unfortunately, her report is only one of many I receive; and several dentists have told me that they have frequently seen ugly fluoride mottling in children given such drops. That an excess in fluoride intake can cause lifelong mottling of teeth is well known.

   “Fluoride has never been proven to be a body requirement.16 Generation after generation of rats have been observed; and those given fluoride had no better teeth, nor were they in any way healthier, than the animals receiving no fluoride. Though claims have been made that fluoride increases calcium absorption and retention, studies with humans show the reverse seems to be true, especially if the calcium intake is low. Fluoride is an acknowledged enzyme inhibitor. Enzymes start and speed up reactions in the body. They remain unchained when the reaction is finished, and may therefore repeat the same reactions again and again. Fluoride interferes with this process when it enters the body.17 An excess causes kidney damage, calcification of the soft tissues, and such brittleness that bones break easily.18,19

   “Though glowing claims have been made that fluoride prevents tooth decay, reports have been conflicting. For example, a U. S. Public Health Service study of Newburgh, New York, one of the first cities in our country to have fluoridated water, found that there was slightly more decay after fluoridation than before. In Puerto Rico, after the water was fluoridated for fifteen years, 62% of the children were found to have decayed teeth; and the teeth of 64% of the adolescents (ten to fourteen years old) showed ugly staining. The doctors making the Puerto Rican study pointed out that no amount of fluoride could make up for an inadequate diet.

   “A survey by the Department of Health, Education and Welfare revealed that in ten states decay was so rampant that 18% of the children over ten years old had trouble biting and chewing despite fluorides being added to the water in many locales. On the other hand, children of Seventh‑Day Adventists families, allowed little candy, have much less decay without fluorides than children drinking fluoridated water. A report of the World Health Organization claims that fluoride decreased decay in thirty countries, but then points out that it can prevent decay only wherever sugar is not eaten.

   “It is said that rarely if ever have such huge sums of money been made available for publicity purposes as the astronomical amounts which have been paid for the claims that fluoridation can decrease tooth decay. Aluminum interests formerly spent millions getting rid of poisonous fluorides. Now they sell them to fluoridate water supplies. The implication that decay could be prevented merely by obtaining fluoride while large amounts of sweets could still be eaten gained the enthusiastic support of the soft‑drink industry, the candy and bakery industries, and any others which made money by selling sweets. Their propaganda to laymen, dentists and pediatricians, almost impossible to distinguish from fact, has been vigorous and widespread.

   “A. Schatz has shown that cavities develop at the same rate in permanent teeth of children if the water has been fluoridated or not.20 It seems to be generally agreed, even by those who claim that it will decrease the amount of cavities, that once the permanent teeth have fully formed and emerged, fluoride intake will have no effect on future cavity incidence. Adult teeth do not benefit from fluoridated water.21

   “Most people eat at least some foods grown in areas where water is already fluoridated. In addition, dozens of industries now pour fluorides into our atmosphere; thus, much fluoride is being taken into our bodies through air pollution.22 Still more fluorides from such pollution contaminate the animals and plants we use as food. We may therefore already be getting too many fluorides. It is estimated that when the water supply is at one part per million (ppm) level the personal intake of fluorides increase threefold.23

   “The American Journal of Diseases of Children cautioned in an editorial that fluoride is indeed a potential poison and that the dosage is still inaccurate. Now follow this logic if you can. Fluoride is added to many water supplies across the United States supposedly to prevent or decrease the amount of cavities. Enough fluoride is added to equal one part per million. Because fluorosis, the unsightly mottling of teeth, occurs in some infants at 0.5 part per million in drinking water, the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Nutrition recommended in 1979 that 0.25 part per million be allowed for infants age two weeks to two years.24,25,26 This parallels the recommendation of the Council of Dental Therapeutics of the American Dental Association (ADA) 1977. Yet our water supplies are altered so that they supply approximately four times that amount. This error must be remedied. I personally feel extremely concerned that so many pediatricians are recommending fluoride drops to babies. Under no circumstances would I recommend them. If your water supply is fluoridated, it means your water has compulsory medication in it. This is done usually without your permission or consent. Additional fluoridation is potentially dangerous, and avoidance is the best policy.”

   What ever happened to freedom of choice in this country? I do not mean the freedom to put street drugs into our bodies. I mean the freedom not to have our water supply contaminated with toxic industrial waste.

   Anyone, who chooses, can use fluoride toothpaste and go to a dentist to receive fluoride treatments and a prescription for fluoride drops. They are allowed to make conscientious decisions regarding themselves and their children.

   When fluoride treatment of public water supplies is mandated, advocates are saying that they know what is best for all of us and that the rest of us should not be allowed to make conscientious decisions regarding ourselves and our children.

   A tremendous amount of money is spent promoting fluoride. Money is the name of the game. Instead of paying for disposal of their toxic waste, the phosphate fertilizer and aluminum industries can sell it to public water suppliers. Dentists can treat dental fluorosis, the unsightly mottling of teeth, with expensive crowns.

   Because it is a controlled substance, it takes a prescription from a dentist in order to get pharmaceutical fluoride drops. No prescription is needed to contaminate our public water supply with toxic industrial waste fluoride which contains arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury, phosphorus, silver and other toxic compounds.

   When bathing in fluoridated water, an individual can absorb as much fluoride as drinking it. Will science discover that early Altsheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis are caused by fluoride?
