I am forwarding this extensive research on to all CADS supporters. Diana Buckland has her own web site, she has been researching the detrimental affects of chemicals on the human body for over 20 years and has recently joined our fight against fluoridation of our drinking water supply.
I realize that some people like the idea of fluoride being added to our water - however, people MUST be told the TRUTH about the TYPE of fluoride we are being forcefully fed.

Extract: The 1991 report on fluoridation by the National Health and Medical
Research Council was published just as the first papers reporting the link
between fluoridation and hip fractures were being published.52 It acknowledged
in its
section 6.4 some of the evidence that skeletal fluorosis is a potential
health hazard, but created the false impression in its executive summary that
there are no health risks. It is the executive summary which is read by
decision-makers and the media. The report’s profluoridation bias was further
demonstrated by its failure to cite any of the studies presenting the evidence
against fluoridation published in refereed journals.
The 1995 Report to the Minister by the New Zealand Public Health Commission
demonstrated similar bias by failing even to cite any of the published papers on
hip fractures, skeletal fluorosis or osteosarcomas..53 However, the 1994 New
Zealand Public Health Commission report did include some of these references and
did acknowledge that:
It is possible that there is a small increased risk of hip fracture associated
with water fluoridation, though the evidence for this is very inconclusive.
More
research is required to clarify this issue. A large amount of research has
failed to provide evidence that exposure to fluoride causes cancer. However, the
possibility of a small increased risk of osteosarcoma (a rare type of bone
cancer) in young men cannot be ruled out at this stage. Here again, more
research is needed. [From the executive summary; there are similar statements on
p. 74 and p 78.]54
But this information, and the references supporting it, were not forwarded
officially to the Minister.
One of the us (DE), while Federal Minister for Health in Australia from 1972 to
1975, could not get frank answers from his own department on the risks and
benefits of fluoridation. Another of us (JC), while convenor of the New Zealand
Fluoridation Promotion Committee, observed at first hand how his then fellow
proponents of fluoridation kept from the public and decision makers the evidence
that
fluoridation is less effective than claimed by proponents and is harmful,
and then represented the evidence in a misleading way when it was eventually
released. All of us have observed attempts by the medical and dental
establishment in profluoridation countries to evade the evidence of concern and
to suppress and misrepresent scientists, medical practitioners and dentists who
attempt to publish evidence against fluoridation.55-57
For these and other reasons, we have no confidence in the impartiality of those
institutions of government and the professions which have endorsed fluoridation
for decades. Those who have built their careers and professional status on
fluoridation cannot credibly assess the evidence against it. We have submitted
this short paper for publication in the hope that at least some kind of
scholarly debate will
ensue.

Drinking Water at EPA, was fired for publicly questioning the honesty of a
long-awaited government animal study designed to determine if fluoride causes
cancer. Upon examining the raw data of the experiment, Dr. Marcus found clear
evidence that fluoride causes cancer, and suggested that a review panel set up
by the government to review the data had deliberately downgraded the results. He
was vindicated in December of 1992 when Administrative Law Judge David A. Clark,
Jr. ordered EPA to give him back his job, with back pay, legal expenses and
$50,000 in damages. EPA appealed, but the appeal was turned down in 1994 by
Secretary of Labor, Robert B. Reich who accused EPA of firing Dr. Marcus in
retaliation for speaking his mind in public. Reich found among other things that
EPA had shredded important evidence that would have supported Dr. Marcus in
court. The original trial proceedings also show that EPA
employees who wanted to
testify on behalf of Dr. Marcus were threatened by their own management. EPA
officials also forged some of his time cards, and then accused him of misusing
his official time.

The decline in caries (cavities) in communities that are fluoridated has been
significant -- but so is the decline in communities that are not fluoridated.
For example, B.C. drinking
water is 95 per cent nonfluoridated, whereas drinking
water in Alberta is 75 per cent fluoridated; yet the two provinces have similar
rates of caries.
Fluoridation comes with significant risks. Animal studies have shown the
chemical is a potential immunotoxin, embryotoxin and neurotoxin.. Because
fluoridation is unlikely to be the cause of caries decline in North America and
because the potential for adverse effects is real, we believe fluoridation of
drinking water is scientifically untenable.

The WHO Oral Health Programme continues to emphasize the importance of public
health approaches to the effective use of fluorides for the prevention of dental
caries in the 21st century. Everyone should be encouraged to brush daily with a
fluoride toothpaste. In addition, where the incidence and prevalence of dental
caries in the community is high to moderate, or where there are firm indications
that the incidence of caries is increasing, an additional source of fluoride
(water, salt
or milk) should be considered. Where the country (or area of the
country) has a moderate level of economic and technological development, a
municipal water supply reaching a large population, trained water engineers and
favourable public opinion, water fluoridation using fluoride at a concentration
of 0.5–1 mg/l is the method of choice (/48/). Salt fluoridation is a widely
practised alternative that has the advantage of allowing consumer choice. It
should be emphasized that "topical" fluorides such as toothpaste can
also have a "systemic" effect when they are inadvertently ingested by
young children. Indeed, three independent studies in Australia, Canada and the
USA indicate that 47–72% of dental fluorosis in children can be attributed to
the systemic effect of fluoride toothpastes (/49/). Dispensing a pea-sized
amount of toothpaste, encouraging parents to supervise toothbrushing by their
young children, and the
use of toothpastes containing less fluoride by young
children are approaches to ameliorating this problem. It is recommended that
dental fluorosis be monitored periodically to detect increases in or
higher-than-acceptable levels of fluorosis. Action, such as adjusting intake of
fluoride from water, salt or other sources, should be taken when the prevalence
of fluorosis is found to be excessive (/48/).
In parallel, it is important to maintain and foster a programme of
health-services research that might seek to: • update our information on the
cost-effectiveness of water, salt and milk fluoridation against a background of
the now widespread use of fluoride toothpastes;…………
Such a programme of health-services research will help to maintain and develop
the outstanding progress made over the past half century in harnessing the
beneficial effects of fluorides.

Fluorides are cumulative toxins. The fact that fluorides accumulate in the body
is the reason that US law requires the Surgeon General to set a Maximum
Contaminant Level (MCL) for fluoride content in public water supplies as
determined by the EPA. This requirement is specifically aimed at avoiding a
condition known as Crippling Skeletal Fluorosis (CSF), a disease thought to
progress through three stages. The MCL, designed to prevent only the third and
crippling stage of this disease, is set at 4ppm or 4mg per liter. It is assumed
that people will retain half of this amount (2mg), and therefore 4mg per liter
is deemed "safe." Yet a daily dose of 2-8mg is known to cause the
third crippling stage of CSF.^10,11
In 1998 EPA scientists, whose job and legal duty it is
to set the Maximum
Contaminant Level, declared that this 4ppm level was set fraudulently by outside
forces in a decision that omitted 90 percent of the data showing the mutagenic
properties of fluoride.^12
The ////Clinical Toxicology of Commercial Products, 5th Edition// (1984) gives
lead a toxicity rating of 3 to 4 (3 = moderately toxic, 4 = very toxic) and the
EPA has set 0.015 ppm as the MCL for lead in drinking water--with a goal of
0.0ppm. The toxicity rating for fluoride is 4, yet the MCL for fluoride is
currently set at 4.0ppm, over 250 times the permissable level for lead.

On June 19, 2008 the American Dental Association updated its website reporting

fluoride is a concern to all kidney patients, not just those on dialysis.
Along with false assurances of safety, fluoride chemicals are added to some
public and
bottled water in the unscientific belief it reduces cavities.
Fluoride-induced bone damage could occur in kidney patients who consume even
"optimally" fluoridated water because malfunctioning kidneys do not
properly sift
fluoride from the blood and out of the body. Fluoride can build up in bones
making
them brittle and fracture
For this reason, the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) withdrew its fluoridation
endorsement in October 2007, which they made public in a fluoride paper dated
April
15, 2008 with advice that “individuals with CKD
[Chronic Kidney Disease]
should be
notified of the potential risk of fluoride exposure.”
After the 2006 National Research Council's (NRC) fluoride toxicology report
was
brought to their attention, the NKF withdrew its fluoridation endorsement.
The NRC fluoride report was created by a 12-member panel of scientists to

current fluoride toxicology data at the request of the Environmental Protection
Agency

Halton's drinking water.
The decline in caries (cavities) in communities that are fluoridated has been
significant -- but so is the decline in communities that are not fluoridated.
For example, B.C. drinking water is 95 per cent nonfluoridated, whereas drinking
water in Alberta is 75 per cent fluoridated; yet the two provinces have similar
rates of caries.
Fluoridation comes with significant risks. Animal studies have shown the
chemical is a potential immunotoxin, embryotoxin and neurotoxin. Because
fluoridation is unlikely to be the cause of caries decline in North America and
because the potential for adverse effects is real, we believe fluoridation of
drinking
water is scientifically untenable.

ps As I told a friend recently I'm off to the dentist again (today) - and
taking my papers with me - I only found this young dentist recently and this
will be my third and final visit - the
cost argh!!!! shocking - but he is
cheaper than others -
this is huge problem for most people too and the government knows the dental
health is in crisis - people simply are struggling to go to the dentists because
of the huge costs; so in a lot of cases; it is out of the question. We have to
pay it off on bankcard like many others. The government should have implemented
affordable dentistry for all Australians; but they chose to go down the fluoride
fraud road. The evidence against water fluoridation cannot be challenged;
it's too extensive, it's too credible, from too many sources all around
the world; chemical water fluoridation must end for all our sakes.
On the 2nd visit I brought up the subject of water fluoridation - and then I
said now I've mentioned fluoride don't you hurt me - he laughed but
before all the instruments were placed in my mouth rendering me incapable of any
coherent speech I said remind
me to tell you about Tasmania. And he did, so I
ran the stats of Tasmania by him and his interest was pricked - and he admitted
that they are taught at dental school that water fluoridation is good - and
after we spoke briefly, he said I'm prepared to listen to 2 sides. A dentist
with an open mind, somewhat refreshing, instead of the old boys pro-fluoridation
club where nothing, absolutely nothing will change their minds; not even the
most serious Evidence of Harm and suppression of such Evidence of Harm will sway
them; not Conflicts of Interests which bring into serious question, Integrity in
Science. I was very disturbed to find the conflicts of interest with the World
Health Organisation; their relationship with British Fluoridation Society - what
a disgrace; and that's the tip of the iceberg. Remember please if you would

The reason I sent that with the urls is because the first thing people will do
is say where's your proof and there would be no information. You cannot
simply just send small pieces of information without url's especially from
experts; and I have sent much material (as have my colleagues) to numerous
journalists at your paper, & others, many just delete without being read, so
yes, I'm cranky; such an important matter that can have huge consequences
for us all and they
don't even bother and certainly it appeared to be a
blackout as nothing was ever printed. I do all this work voluntarily to help
protect the population (not just my own family) from harm as do many of my
colleagues/friends. I am sure you would be aware of the many years of work by
Professor Paul Connett of the Fluoride Action Network

There is a definite lack of duty of care and suppression of Evidence of Harm in
relation to dangers of water fluoridation as far as
all aspects of our Government are concerned; they are purely going on the input

referenced in the Paper by Professor Kauffman) . Too many people/organisations
around the world are calling for ban on water fluoridation for these very
reasons; it
is dangerous and
it's a poison S6 ; you tell me who's crazy enough to want to drink that
and bathe in it for all your life - it will be in all our foods, everything -
water is life. The conflicts of interests are totally unacceptable as is loss of
Integrity in Science due to such conflicts of interests and thereby suppression
of such Evidence of Harm. Enough is enough, please give us the courtesy and
fairness of doing a story on this; our side for a change without the
interference of the old boys of pro-fluoridation who have held the floor for
decades due to their clout.
I also have collected extensive evidence from Professionals all around the
world - but the evidence put forward by Ex-Parliamentarian Mr. Dennis Stevenson
is shocking; and blows the lid on the suppression of Evidence of Harm which was
received from all around the world; from the water fluoridation chemicals. You

information on this subject, created by Dennis Stevenson, and provided on a very

For over 100 years, science and medicine have understood the poisonous nature
of fluoride. In the 1930's and 40's, giant US companies, e.g. ALCOA,
were sued for millions of dollars due to toxic fluoride waste escaping from
factory smokestacks killing crops and livestock. ALCOA's owners (Mellon)
figured that if people could be persuaded fluoride isn't poisonous but is
good for teeth, profits
could be protected. So, to introduce water fluoridation,
they hired the brilliant 'father of propaganda' Edward L. Bernays.
Joined later by other fluoride polluting industries (e.g. nuclear) and the
multi-billion dollar sugar, toothpaste, confectionary and soft drink industries,
they became strong financial supporters of dental associations that promoted
fluoridation. One such support group, the Dental Health Education & Research
Foundation (DHERF) was founded in Australia in 1962. Its Governors, Members and
donors comprised key representatives from Coca-Cola, CSR, Kelloggs,
Colgate-Palmolive, Wrigleys, Arnotts, Scanlens, Cadbury Schweppes, etc..

CONCLUSIONS: Artificial fluoridation of drinking water by municipalities at 1
ppm of fluoride ion probably does not reduce tooth decay, except for a minor
effect on deciduous teeth. Hexafluorosilicic acid and its sodium salt, which
contain
other toxic substances because they are not purified, certainly have no
significant benefit.
Proponents of fluoridation have censored most media, ignored intelligent
discussion of fluoridation, slandered most opponents of
fluoridation, and overturned legal judgments against fluoridation a manner that
demonstrates their political power. Many published
studies that had conclusions favoring fluoridation were later found unsupported
by their raw data.
There is evidence that fluoridation increases the incidence of cancer, hip
fractures, joint problems, and that by causing fluorosis it
damages both teeth and bones. Other medical problems may also occur, including
neurologic damage.
Antifluoridationists compromise their credibility by unwarranted assertions
that many stable fluorine-containing
materials are harmful.
The EPA should set the enforceable Maximum Contaminant Level at 0.4 ppm
fluoride in drinking
water.
The FDA should reverse its position on permitting sale of products containing
fluoride that claim dental benefit without proof
of safety or effectiveness.
Fluoridation of municipal water should cease. Defluoridation of naturally
fluoridated water down to 0.4 ppm of fluoride should
be mandated. Individuals should remove fluoride from their tap water if
fluoridation cannot be stopped.

“_Tasmanian adults have the worst dental health in the nation_ with the
highest percentage of edentulous (complete loss of natural teeth) adults per
capita with 15.3% of the adult population, compared to the national average of
9.7%.The State also has the highest percentage of persons wearing a denture in
the nation, with 11.2% in the 25 –
44 year category, which is almost double the national average.” Stated also
in this report “Tasmania has had some of the worst health indicators in the
nation,” It appears we have been suckers and lab rats for a long time, time

WITH some diehards still hoping the fluoridisation of domestic water supplies
in southeast Queensland early next year will somehow be averted, it is worth
remembering what happened when Canberra was fluoridated in 1964. As _Queensland
Premier Anna Bligh is now aware, fluoride brings out nutters determined to prove
it fades your_ _curtains, curdles your cat and turns babies' bones to
chalk._ In Canberra it was the same, but with feisty Brisbane-based federal
Liberal politician Jim Killen leading the anti-fluoride forces. The fight was
covered closely in a short-lived tabloid edition of The Australian that Rupert
Murdoch had published just for Canberra readers. The day water flowing from the
Cotter Reservoir was due to be fluoridated, dozens of protesters
chained
themselves to the gates and refused to let workers past. “We don’t give
a bugger,” one of the workers drawled. “We did it six months
ago.”
