All Eyes On You

Feel like your being watched in Mooloolaba? your are….Mooloolaba is now home to a CCTV network owned and operated by the Queensland Police. There are roughly a dozen cameras setup around the “party district” in Mooloolaba supplying the Mooloolaba Police Beat with a 24/7 live video feed of you and your family. The exact numbers and locations of the cameras within the network are being kept secret from everyone at the moment.

If you have any information regarding the amount of cameras in use and there locations we would love to hear from you. We believe its important that people know where these cameras are located and we intend on doing this as soon as possible by providing a detailed map of the CCTV network.

Donations for Sippy Creek Animal Refuge

The Sippy Creek Animal Refuge on the Sunshine Coast is in need of donations of buckets for water for the dogs in the warmer weather. They are also running extremely low in puppy and kitten food. My Dog canned food is also needed for the aging dogs. Any donations of toys or treats are also always appreciated.

The Sippy Creek Animal Refuge does great work. As they have a strict non-euthanasia policy, they have to find homes or look after every animal that finds its way there, whether it’s surrendered or otherwise. This year they have found homes for 521 dogs and 381 cats.

If your on the Sunshine Coast there are donation bins in most supermarkets if you can help out at all. And if your considering getting a pet check out the refuge first. All the animals are vaccinated and sprayed for fleas and ticks. And if you already have a pet have a look at their website for tips on looking after them and keeping them safe and healthy. The link to their website is on our link list to the right.

Frustrating Sunshine Coast Attitude

Current Mood:Alarmed emoticon Alarmed

I just posted some comments to the Daily about the number of stupid people commenting.

For a start I am absolutely appalled at the attitude on the Sunshine Coast. The first story I commented on was a story about a 13 year old boy being bashed by 6 coppers at Kawana Police Station after him and his uncle climbed onto the roof of the station.

Ok, so yes they should not have been on the roof, it’s trespassing blah blah blah… we are all in agreement about this. But the thing that fucking amazes me if the amount of people that acknowledge that the coppers bashed this boy, but say he deserved it. Lots of people think he should have gotten worse, saying they would give him worse. For climbing onto a roof?? What is wrong with people? One particular arrogant blind dickhead, newsblog from Coolum even went so far as to say that there is no such thing as Police brutality only “Behavioral Modification through Stress” and was shooting cheap shots at this boy, calling him a character from a Harry Potter movie (which I have no idea where that even comes from by the way). He thinks it’s a good thing that 6 coppers ganged up on one 13 year old and bashed him. Most people think that the coppers didn’t do anything, the boy just fell from the roof and he is making it all up because “he is a criminal, he climbed on the roof of the police station” ARE THEY NOT LOOKING PROPERLY AT THE PICTURE OF HIS FACE??? Also people are calling the family a pack of horses and bogans. So I told them to go onto Youtube and search police brutality and see them taser an 11 year old kid and many many senior citizens, see them kill people’s dogs and kill peaceful protesters. WTF?? I hate the Daily so much. They print the story, but only so that people like newsblog can praise the coppers for bashing the kid. Karma will find people like newsblog soon enough.

I just can’t understand this attitude. Since when is it ok for the people we pay to protect us to bash our youths? Apparently it’s fine, and this is why they can get away with tasering whoever they want whenever, bringing in all sorts of “non-lethal” weapons with which to control society and crowds. People honestly think that it is a good thing. They honestly think that the coppers will never do this sort of thing to them because they always do the right thing. WAKE THE FUCK UP!! Even if you are in the right a copper will not hesitate to do whatever it wants to you. Why don’t people understand this? All these stories about corruption etc. and people still choose to believe the coppers because they think anyone who goes against them is a criminal and a liar. People were saying that we are going to end up like America because of “people like this family complaining about being punished for breaking the law”. WRONG. We are going to end up like America because of attitudes like those people, thinking that coppers must bash kids as punishment, and soon enough they will get pulled over for speeding and the copper will walk up to them pushing a taser in their face. Why don’t they understand that we can’t give them too much power and we can’t condone tham bashing a kid? This is an open and shut case as far as I’m concerned: they should be charged with assault and exposed for what they really are.

The other thing I commented on was the story of Melissa Harper. I had a go at all those close minded, judgemental people asking why she was out at 3am, and why her mum didn’t know where she was. For a start, it is nowhere near uncommon for a 16 year old to be out at 3am anymore. Secondly, if those parents think they know where their kids are all the time then they are stupid. Really really stupid and have no idea about their kids. Thirdly, this is not a time to be judgemental. Those who knew Melissa know she had already been through so much in her short life. She was the only child and people should be thinking about what her mother must be going through not questioning her parenting abilities. I know for a fact she was a great mother and Melissa was a great girl. I feel so sorry for all that loved her, and people should be thinking about what they could do to help, not sitting on the net judging them.

Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge

The Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge (SCAR) is located at Sippy Creek Road, Tanawha on the Sunshine Coast (Australia).  They are a shelter for lost, neglected and surrendered dogs and cats. They are a non profit organization with a non euthanasia policy and therefore rely heavily on public donations and volunteers.

SCAR does important work. If owners can no longer look after their pets, instead of dumping them they can take them to SCAR and pay a fee for them to be looked after there. They also help save injured and neglected pets and help all the animals to find new homes. They offer people who have lost their pets a free service to help find them.

Thanks to the support and donations of many businesses and volunteers on the Sunshine Coast, SCAR is now able to build a new on site veterinary hospital.

The Animal Refuge is always in need of donations of dog and cat food and shade cloth to make the dog beds with. They also need rice and pasta for the dogs breakfasts. Towels, buckets, blankets etc. are used alot for cleaning, and basic handyman tools and building materials for maintenance and repairs. Their donation bins are located in most supermarkets on the Sunshine Coast. They do great work and its definitely worth getting behind.
